Subfret was formed during the year of 2000 in Malmö, Sweden. At the beginning the band consisted of Kalle Kronhamn on drums, Pelle Kronhamn on samplers and vocals, Johan Roslund on vocals, Martin Larsson on bass and Christoffer Sjöstrand on guitar. About a week after Björn, an old friend of Kalle and Pelle, joined up on guitar to add some extra power and the band was set. Their goal was to achieve an "in your face" metal sound combined with some samplers.
After some intense months of rehearsing and song writing Subfret recorded their first demo release "Unknown.To.Man" containing 9 tracks of pure metal. A few gigs were played and Subfret got great response from the audience.
In the summer of 2001 Pelle had to leave to band after having been diagnosed with servere tinnitus. Subfret decided to move on without replacing Pelle, and manage the samplers by themselves. In 2002 Subfret recorded a new release called "Dwelling". The band setup changed for this recording since Martin decided to move to Amsterdam with his girlfriend and was replaced by Andreas Jönsson.
One year later it was time for a new recording and "Surfacing" came out. "Surfacing" wasn't a full lenght album but an EP containing 2 tracks. Martin was back from Amsterdam and was invited to rejoin Subfret to help replacing Pelle. Martin accepted the invite.
Just about time "Surfacing" was done, Johan choose to leave the band. After a couple of weeks searching for a new singer, Subfret decided to rearrange the band and invited Daniel Wikforss to replace Kalle on the drums so Kalle could replace Johan on the vocals. Daniel accepted the offer and the band was once again complete. The new setup proved to be a good choice and with Kalle on the vocals Subfret lifted themselves to a new level.
Rehearsal and song writing started and Subfret came up with a few really strong tracks and was preparing to put them on tape. Shortly after some of the band members got some personal problems and the band decided to give them some time off and not much happend for about a year.
In the beginning of 2005 the work on their new and current release "Awakening" started. The tracks were reworked and among plenty of ass kicking tracks Subfret selected 4 to be recorded. A pre-production was made and when the band was satisfied with the sound they started the recording of "Awakening".
After alot of trouble in the past Subfret now feel they have a strong setup of band members and are very eager to get out on the stage!
